THE FULL STORY

ABOUT US

The Northern Beaches Stray Cats Rugby Club is a new organisation which has been formed for two purposes in mind. Firstly, to provide an opportunity for local rugby enthusiasts over the age of 35 years, to continue playing the game they love in a semi competitive environment under modified laws. Secondly to promote men's health and wellbeing by stepping away from rugby tradition, where men don't necessarily talk openly about their issues. We have created an environment through the game of rugby, where men from all walks of life can get together, knowing that they can:

Safely and openly talk about their issues and or simply listen and help men going through similar situations they too may have been through.

We do this by holding weekly wellness walk along with our training sessions and we have found that this encourages men to come forward, join but more importantly talk.

The club is affiliated with Golden Oldies Sports, an international organisation which promotes the playing of various sports, including rugby under their ethos of Fun, Friendship and Fraternity.

The playing season consists of a calendar of regular friendly matches and carnivals around Sydney, with the club also attending carnivals in regional areas as well as competing in the Golden Oldies World Cup Rugby Festival held in a different country every 2 years.

The club's members represent a wide cross section of the Northern Beaches Community with a diverse range of cultural backgrounds, employment categories and life experiences. With a major part of the club's ethos being focused on the well-being of our members beyond the rugby field, we feel that this sets us apart from the rest and ultimately makes us a stronger group together on and off the field.

We are also extremely proud to welcome our Club Patron, who's belief in us and what we stand for, is very much appreciated.
